Shopping at the Rose
The Shopping at the Rose project has been approved (“Oxnard OKs Regional Mall,” July 30) and will now be built, literally in my back yard. Whether the City Council wants to admit this one or not, there are an overwhelming number of citizens who have been completely against this project from the very beginning. As time has passed, more folks have come to agree that this is an unwise decision.
In our area alone, there were 400 folks who signed the petition against this project. And yet the City Council has once again proved themselves true to the alluring touch of the almighty dollar.
Our city should be finding ways to strengthen and secure the businesses already here. They are our city--they’re you and they’re me. Let’s not allow a business from the outside to come in and walk all over the men and women and the businesses they have struggled to build to help make Oxnard what it is today.
