Cool Houston Breaks 61-Year-Old Record

HOUSTON — What’s this? It’s August and cool in Houston?
The thermometer reached 63 degrees Sunday morning, 9 degrees below the normal low and breaking a 61-year-old record for the date. The high temperature Saturday was only 86, seven degrees below normal.
Not to worry, says Gregory Waller of the Weather Research Center. Before the Republican Convention is over Thursday, Houston weather will return to normal: highs in the mid- to upper 90s and afternoon thundershowers.
So those cold packs included in treat bags for visitors may not go unused after all.
