Democrats United of Ventura County, a grass-roots political action committee, is opening an office in Oxnard on Thursday to serve as countywide campaign headquarters for Democratic presidential nominee Bill Clinton and other Democratic candidates.
The office is at 315 Holser St. near Rose Avenue. It will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Four full-time workers will staff the office with the assistance of volunteers.
“We’ve been inundated with calls,” said Pam Weidemann, executive director of Democrats United. From the office, workers will coordinate efforts among the various campaigns.
The doors to the new office will officially open at 10 a.m. with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Congressional nominee Anita Perez Ferguson, state Senate candidate Hank Starr and Assembly nominee Roz McGrath are expected to be on hand.
The new office will be open only during the campaign. Democrats United maintains a permanent office in Ventura.
