Linford Christie won the 100 meters and Carl Lewis finished third in the 200 at the International Sports Track and Field meet Friday in Berlin.

Christie, the Olympic champion from Britain, won the 100 in 9.99 seconds, beating American Leroy Burrell, second in 10.04.

Christie has been avoiding Lewis since the Barcelona Olympics, and Lewis said before the meet that he wanted to run against him. But Lewis was entered in the 200 and ran that race instead.

In the men’s 400, Olympic champion Quincy Watts of the United States was beaten by Samson Kitur of Kenya, the Olympic bronze medalist, who ran 44.75.
