South Pasadena : Flag Lot Effort Opposed

Share

Neighbors upset by a resident’s bid to split his property and create a flag lot for another home rallied to oppose the action during a public hearing at last week’s City Council meeting.

A flag lot is a lot behind another lot connected to the street by a narrow access road.

Several longtime residents of a master-planned community known as the Altos complained that the proposal submitted by Patrick Lee violates neighborhood planning standards adopted when the community was formed more than 20 years ago.

But Lee’s attorney, Michael Feinberg, said his client’s plan satisfies city statutes, which he argued supersede the local regulations of the community of about 600 homes.

The council directed City Atty. Edward Lee, no relation to Patrick Lee, to investigate the issue and report back Sept. 2.
