Soka and Politics
We read in The Times Metro/Valley section (“Calabasas Election Funds Linked to Soka Lobbyist,” Aug. 15) that Soka University has been surreptitiously connected to the political campaigns of Calabasas city officials. They reason that getting favorable recommendations about the university from the Calabasas politicos to the county officials making decisions is worth a measly few thousand dollars.
Well, why not? The Japanese seem to be learning well the American way of life. If one can’t get what one wants by logical, rational argument, buy your local politicians.
