Police were called Sunday to the Islamic Society of Orange County after a group of 100 protesters clashed with 100 society members, who had recently ousted a controversial executive director.
“We had a report of a disturbance between 200 people at the Islamic Society” at 9752 13th St., said Garden Grove Sgt. Arlen Hanson. He said no arrests were made.

Dr. Muzammil H. Siddiqui--An article Monday inaccurately described what happened when Garden Grove police were called to the Islamic Society of Orange County on Sunday. Police said they helped calm a minor disturbance but that no one, including former executive director Dr. Muzammil H. Siddiqui, was removed or asked to leave.
Muzammil Siddiqui, who until recently held a paid position at the 2,000-member mosque as executive director, was removed from the mosque by police after a confrontation erupted into a scuffle, said a mosque member who did not wish to be identified.
The society’s board of directors recently had told Siddiqui that his paid position had been cut as part of budget-cutting that included firing other mosque employees.
