FULLERTON : Educators to Offer Training Session

Share

Local school leaders are hosting a training session for community residents as part of their continued fight against substance abuse and violence.

Fullerton Joint Union High School District officials hope that the session will produce a local task force to promote a “substance- and violence-free environment for north Orange County residents.”

The session is designed to train adults to make small group presentations in schools and elsewhere that would discourage young people from using drugs or becoming involved in street violence.

“When youth choose to use or abuse substances or become involved in violent behavior, they jeopardize their educational and social potential, their physical and mental health and adversely affect the community as a whole,” school officials said in a written announcement of the program.

“Therefore, the investment of time in this effort is considered to be of value to the business community and the residential community, as well.”

The weeklong session will be Sept. 28 through Oct. 2 at the district board room, 780 Beechwood Ave. Cost is $395 per person.
