Video Rentals : ‘Wayne’s World’ in Excellent Shape

“Wayne’s World,” featuring those basement cable stars Wayne and Garth, certainly isn’t in the basement of the Billboard magazine rental chart. It entered in the elite upper levels--No. 4--and could be the movie that knocks “The Hand That Rocks the Cradle” out of the top spot. “Prince of Tides” seemed poised to sweep “Cradle” away but moved up just one notch, to No. 2. “Love Crimes” (No. 19) is still going strong, largely thanks to the unrated version. “Europa Europa” (No. 24) has maintained its position in the 20s on the rental chart, a solid showing for a foreign-language film.

* The unrated version of this steamy, low-budget sequel, which entered the chart at No. 37, is a hot item in stores carrying unrated movies. Several video retailers report this is a more popular rental than some new, major movies.
