The Housing Authority on Tuesday set aside more than $4.4 million in redevelopment money to help finance four projects for low-income seniors and handicapped children.
The action reserves $935,778 for lowering rents for senior tenants in a 47-unit project at 2500-2840 Honolulu Ave. in Montrose and $560,000 to help build 16 townhouses for seniors on Doran Street.
The Salvation Army is eligible to receive $1.55 million for a proposed federally assisted senior housing project with at least 75 units. The Crippled Children’s Society seeks $1.4 million for a 25-unit complex for handicapped youngsters. Sites for those projects have not been chosen.
