Unearthed Toxic Gases Kill 1 Person, Sicken 37 Others

SEA ISLE CITY, N.J. —
A police officer was killed and 37 people were sickened after workers building a sewage pumping station unearthed a pocket of toxic gases. The workers accidentally dug into an area with heavy concentrations of methane and hydrogen sulfide, Public Safety Commissioner Steve Libro said Wednesday.
