J. Kneeland Nunan; Industrialist, Aide to Howard Hughes

J. Kneeland Nunan, 82, an aide to Howard Hughes after Hughes took over RKO Radio Pictures Inc. He was an industrialist who earned a master’s degree from Caltech in engineering and was assistant dean of engineering at USC. During World War II, Nunan was involved in secret engineering work for the government, which earned him the Navy Medal for Merit in 1946. He also was general manager of the Motion Picture Department of Ansco Division of the General Aniline and Film Corp. in Hollywood, president and founder of Electra Scientific Corp. in Fullerton, and deputy undersecretary of Defense for undersea warfare. In 1951, he was elected president of the General Alumni Assn. of USC. In Laguna Hills on Wednesday of the complications of Alzheimer’s disease.
