Clinton Republicans: Brave or Turncoats?

Share

The recent slanderous remarks made about Orange County Supervisor Harriett M. Wieder, Kathryn Thompson and others who followed their conscience and constitutional right of free expression should not and cannot go unnoticed.

Members of the Republican “radical religious right” seem to be threatened by those of us who are repulsed by the takeover of the Republican Party by the “radical religious right.”

I am a moderate Republican who will not be supporting President Bush in November because of the extremism exhibited at the Republican convention, as well as the obvious caving in to the hatemongers and the likes of the Patrick Buchanans of the world.

During my lifetime I have been elected to public office three times. Never have I seen a political party as out of touch with reality as the current Republican Party of which I am a member.

In my opinion, Supervisor Wieder, Kathryn Thompson and others who exercised their right of free speech should be treated by their fellow Republican as heroes and not portrayed as traitors.
