Wear a Peach Ribbon Next to the Red One
Three cheers for Charlotte Haley’s efforts to increase awareness about breast cancer. (“Peach Corps,” Aug. 20). It’s time to put those peach ribbons right next to the red ones that appear on lapels and dresses of every celebrity on every awards show on television, and now on political convention speakers looking for AIDS research money.
One of nine women will get breast cancer as well as many men. We don’t know what causes it or how to prevent it--only that it kills.
Where are all the women politicians when we need them in this election year? AIDS and abortion are political issues. Why not breast cancer?
