Wonderworks Amends Suit Against Mitsubishi

Share

Wonderworks Inc., a Canoga Park company that builds models and designs special effects, last month filed in Los Angeles Superior Court an amended lawsuit against Mitsubishi Corp., alleging it had new information showing Mitsubishi’s role in a breach of agreement suit originally filed in 1990.

In the 1990 suit, Wonderworks had accused Mitsubishi and its 80%-owned subsidiary, Spaceport Systems Corp. in Los Angeles, of breaking a joint-venture agreement in which Spaceport allegedly promised to market and support Wonderworks’ designs of full-sized replicas of space shuttles.

According to court documents, Brick Price, owner of Wonderworks, accused Mitsubishi of failing to put $2 million into the joint venture and then fraudulently using Wonderworks’ designs to build models on its own. Wonderworks’ suit seeks $90 million in various damages.
