Rockwell to Invest $1 billion in Auto Business: Rockwell International Chairman Donald R. Beall said the firm would invest the additional money over the next five years, reiterating its commitment to the auto business. The firm’s auto revenue for fiscal 1991 was $2.3 billion, or 20% of its $11.9 billion in sales. Sales this year are up 28%. Beall said Rockwell plans to increase its auto sales to $3 billion by 1996. Rockwell recently announced an expansion of plants that make sun roofs and suspension parts. Beall also said the firm’s strategy of transferring technology from its European operations to the United States is starting to work.
