Knox, who has hesitated to make any public declarations on the subject, Wednesday said it would “be reasonable” to assume that Larry Kelm will start at middle linebacker and Paul Butcher will start at right linebacker Sunday.

Knox has said the team will use mainly a one-back offensive set, but said Wednesday that both Cleveland Gary and Robert Delpino will start Sunday in a two-back set.

Starting defensive ends Robert Young (shoulder) and Bill Hawkins (calf) continue to struggle. Young tried to practice Wednesday, but soon had to quit, take off his pads and ice down his shoulder. Hawkins did not practice, and might be placed on injured reserve.
