Drug Maker Sets Up Suit Settlement Fund: Sandoz Pharmaceuticals Corp., in a settlement of an antitrust lawsuit filed by all 50 states and the District of Columbia over its schizophrenia drug Clozaril, said it will provide $16 million in credits to about 10,000 patients who used the breakthrough drug from Feb. 5, 1990, to May 31, 1991. That period reflects the time when the company controlled the distribution and price of the drug. Sandoz now allows competitive distribution of Clozaril. The company also agreed to reimburse the states $4 million in legal fees and costs. The credits toward purchasing Clozaril include $6 million in free supplies of the drug to people who cannot afford it.
