Mazda Recalls Some Miatas: Mazda North America Inc. recalled 16,688 1990-model MX-5 Miatas to inspect and possibly replace their catalytic converters. Mazda engineers found that on some 1990 models a mat holding the catalyst may become loose and vibrate. The vibration could wear out the catalyst so the converter allows more polluting emissions to escape. Owners of the affected vehicles are being mailed notices to take their cars to their dealers for a one-hour, free repair.
