GOLF ROUNDUP : Lehman Continues to Get Breaks During Resurgence

Tom Lehman made an 80-foot birdie putt on the par-five second hole Friday that helped him take the second-round lead in the Greater Milwaukee Open at Franklin, Wis.

“You make one of those a year. It goes over the hump and breaks in--it was ridiculous,” Lehman said. “In this game you take it when you can get one like that.”

Lehman had a five-under-par 67 and completed two rounds at 135 for a one-stroke lead over first round co-leader David Frost, Tom Sieckmann, Dudley Hart, Dick Mast and defending champion Mark Brooks.

After losing his PGA Tour card in 1985, Lehman earned a spot on the tour again by being named player of the year on the Ben Hogan Tour last year.

Homero Blancas shot a six-under-par 65 to take the lead after the first round of a $400,000 senior tour event at Grand Rapids, Mich.

Blancas, who was two strokes off the course record set by Miller Barber, held a one-stroke lead over Barber, Lee Trevino, Tommy Aaron and Isao Aoki.

Aoki, playing in his first senior event after turning 50 on Monday, made a hole in one on No. 3, a 174-yard par three.
