Checking Meters: In the wake of Hurricane Andrew, the A. C. Nielsen Co. has dispatched crews to Florida to determine how many of its TV meters are still in service. The company temporarily lost track of up to 80% of the meters used to determine daily ratings. With electricity still out and many homes devastated in the area, Nielsen in the meantime has removed Miami from its 25-city overnight ratings count and doesn’t know when the area might be included again.
