As doctors said they believe former Nebraska player Scott Baldwin will remain paralyzed from the mid-chest down for the rest of his life, authorities asked a court to declare him mentally ill and dangerous.
Gary Lacey, Lancaster County attorney, asked the court to set a hearing for Sept. 18 on Baldwin’s status.
“(What) we want is to bring him back under the direct and full supervision of the court, and we will argue that outpatient treatment through the hospital in Omaha is not appropriate,” Lacey said.
Baldwin was shot after a scuffle with Omaha police Saturday.
