Directing Attention to School Conditions

Share

Arcadians take pride in the accomplishments of their schools and their schoolchildren. Ask most people why they moved to Arcadia; they’ll tell you it was “because of the fine reputation of the schools.”

Now we need to direct our attention to the school buildings and classrooms. Most of Arcadia’s schools are between 35 and 45 years old and have had no major rehabilitation.

If we want school buildings and classrooms to reflect the pride we take in our homes and community, and to provide a good learning environment, then we must pass a local bond issue.

The cost of the school bond (to be voted on Tuesday ) is based upon the assessed (not market) value. This is the value on your property tax bill used to calculate your tax payment, and is typically more closely related to what you paid for your property (rather) than what it would sell for today.
