LOS ANGELES : 5th Candidate Announces Plan to Run for Woo’s Seat

Five candidates have declared their intent to run for the Los Angeles City Council seat that Councilman Michael Woo must vacate in order to run for mayor.

Former school board President Jackie Goldberg is the most recent entrant in the competition in the 13th Council District, declaring Tuesday that she will compete in the April primary. Goldberg has worked as a high school teacher and aide to county Supervisor Gloria Molina since leaving the Los Angeles Unified School District post last year.Others declaring their intent to seek the 13th District seat are Michael Weinstein, president of the AIDS Healthcare Foundation; Conrado Terrazas, a community activist and former union organizer; community activist Elizabeth Michael, and onetime stripper and perennial candidate Venus De Milo.

Official filing in the 13th District--which stretches from Hollywood to Atwater Village--does not begin until January.
