Camry, Celica Throttles May Stick, Complaints Say: The government’s traffic safety arm says it is investigating complaints that throttles stick on 1987-89 Toyota Camrys and Celicas. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said it had received 53 complaints that the throttle sticks in both the open and closed positions on 2.0-liter models of both the Camry and Celica. The alleged defect led to three accidents and one injury, the agency reported. The throttle is a valve that regulates the flow of fuel into the engine. A sticking throttle could cause a car to either accelerate or maintain its speed even when the driver eases off the accelerator.
