WORLD IN BRIEF : FRANCE : Mitterrand OK After Prostate Surgery

President Francois Mitterrand, who will be 76 next month, underwent prostate surgery, and doctors said that he is doing well and that there is no cause for concern. Dr. Bernard Debre, head of the urology department at Paris’ Cochin Hospital, said Mitterrand’s prostate “was completely benign, and his postoperative condition is perfectly good.” The operation is common for older men and is considered routine by medical experts.
