‘Yellow Journalism’

Share

When the Tailhook panty raiding antics of Naval flight personnel first made the news, I found it mildly interesting, but of no great surprise or shock.

In my half-century plus of life, I have known many a flight deck jock who lived life on the edge.

Just because a few partying air mariners, with a belt too many under their wings, got carried away, is no reason to ride a (so-called) scandal to death.

I can only guess that with Communism on its back, Hussein bloodied, Noriega and half the bureaucracy in jail, the media is hard-pressed for news.

Well, for the record, gentlemen of the press, what you’re doing is destroying a 200-year service of dignity, pride and tradition. This is yellow journalism and overkill. You have made your point over and over again, and to continue your quest for a Pulitzer Prize, at the expense of your country’s well-being, is crass, childish, ignorant and damned unpatriotic.
