SOUTH ROUNDUP : East Carolina Wins, 30-27

Michael Anderson passed for three second-half touchdown passes, including a 21-yarder to Carlester Crumpler with 42 seconds left, lifting mistake-prone East Carolina to a 30-27 victory over Virginia Tech at Greenville, N.C.

Anderson completed 26 of 42 passes for 349 yards. After 77 passes last week, East Carolina (1-1) attempted 58 against Virginia Tech (1-1).

Tyronne Drakeford’s 40-yard interception return for a touchdown in the third quarter broke a 10-10 tie.

East Carolina’s victory marked the first time in the series that a team has won in consecutive seasons.

Louisville 16, Memphis State 15--Anthony Shelman scored on a one-yard run with 59 seconds left to lift the Cardinals at Louisville.

Memphis State was in position to put Louisville away in the first half, but drives to Louisville’s six, two and eight-yard lines resulted only three field goals.

Louisville’s Brandon Brookfield kicked a 23-yard field goal with 59 seconds left in the half.
