Royal Trips, the longest shot in a field of 10, upset 1-9 favorite Corona Chick by a nose and won the $141,600 Southern California Derby at Hollywood Park on Saturday night.
Royal Trips, a 3-year-old gelding owned by Abigail Kawananakoa, paid $248.60 to win after covering the 400 yards in 19.74 seconds. It was the largest win price of the Hollywood Park quarter horse meeting.
