I’ve enjoyed eating at the Daily Grill because of its excellent and varied menu, atmosphere and good service (“Small Fry,” by Ruth Reichl, Aug. 9). However, I don’t look forward to eating where children are creeping under tables, hanging over booths or wandering up to my table to see what I’m eating. For that kind of atmosphere, I can always go to Chuck E. Cheese’s or McDonald’s.

I don’t think that Reichl’s parents were too far off the mark. Why shouldn’t children learn to have good manners and occasionally sit quietly during a meal in a nice restaurant?
