Ford of Canada Recalls Thunderbirds, Cougars: Ford Motor Co. of Canada Ltd. in Oakville said it is recalling 10,300 1989 Ford Thunderbirds and Mercury Cougars because of a faulty front seat belt. “These seat belts may not retract properly after extension due to jamming of a cable in the tension eliminator system,” it said. Thunderbird and Cougar owners can return the cars to dealers to have an updated seat-belt system installed at no charge.
