Alpharel Sells Imaging System to Detroit Edison

Alpharel Inc. in Camarillo said it signed a contract to provide document-imaging software and services to Detroit Edison Co., a contract that initially will last for nine months and is valued at $1.4 million.

Alpharel, which makes a variety of products that transfer document images to computers for future storage and retrieval, said the contract bolsters the company’s presence in the utility industry.

Separately, Alpharel said the power division of Black & Veatch, a Kansas City, Mo., engineering concern, has agreed to buy one of Alpharel’s document-imaging systems. The value of that contract was not disclosed.
