Workers Expect Tax Increase on Job Benefits: More than half of American workers responding to a survey said they expect Congress to raise taxes on employee benefits next year. In a survey commissioned by the Coalition Organized to Stop Taxation of Employee Benefits, 52% of the 1,000 randomly selected respondents said Congress was likely to tax benefits next year. Thirty-eight percent said Democratic presidential nominee Bill Clinton would be more likely to favor such a tax; 36% said President Bush would more likely seek a tax on benefits.
