It seems that the general feeling in Los Angeles is that the growing violence in our streets is becoming a way of life.

In recent years, the growth of a multiethnic mix in concentrated areas of Los Angeles has fostered tensions between the different ethnic groups, who all are competing for housing, jobs and resources. And to make matters worse, the budget cuts and the reduction of resource services from public funding are leaving many of these people out in the cold.

Los Angeles is the new Ellis Island. Some of the places these people come from are extremely violent. Others who arrive are at the end of their ropes, looking just to survive.

What we must do is consider the positive over the negative. We must become involved with the entire city, no matter the area. We must convince these young warriors that they must stop acting out their frustration. But we also need to give them hope that there will be a future for them.
