Adm. William J. Crowe Jr., chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff under President Ronald Reagan, will endorse Democratic presidential candidate Bill Clinton, a Clinton campaign aide said Friday.

Campaign spokeswoman Dee Dee Myers said Crowe and Clinton would make the announcement together today at the governor’s mansion in Little Rock.

As chairman of the joint chiefs, Crowe headed the group of chiefs of the Army, the Navy, the Air Force and the Marines.
