Vans Inc.: The Orange-based shoe company posted a profit of $2.5 million, or 26 cents a share, for its latest fiscal quarter. That contrasts with a loss of $402,000, or 6 cents a share, for the same period a year earlier. Sales for the company’s first quarter, which ended Aug. 30, dropped slightly to $25 million from $25.4 million.
