World Mayors Open Senegal Conference

DAKAR, Senegal —
The World Conference of Mayors opened on Friday in this West African seaside city, bringing together city leaders from Tuskegee, Ala., to Monrovia, Liberia.
“The World Conference of Mayors is on its way to becoming the United Nations of towns and cities,” said Tuskegee Mayor Johnny Ford in his opening address to the group.
Ford urged the hundreds of delegates to be ambassadors of their communities.
