Engine Problem Found With New Chrysler Sedans: A serious engine problem was discovered in Chrysler’s new mid-size LH cars, stopping the production line and forcing repairs on 1,600 vehicles, the auto maker said. The problem, which could cause a piston rod to break apart and stop the engine cold, was discovered last week in post-production testing of one of the LH series sedans built in Canada. Meanwhile, Chrysler said sales of its Jeep Cherokee have been stronger than expected, averting the layoffs of 700 workers next month.
