Voters in Acton have given the community’s nine-member Town Council a fresh look, selecting four newcomers along with one incumbent to serve on the advisory group. The council represents the rural community south of Palmdale.

Only 322 ballots were cast in the election Saturday. The top vote-getter, with 272 votes, was business owner Richard Morris, who has served on the council since its formation in 1989. Others elected were Bruce Bell with 201 votes, Richard Milton with 184, and Jean Chacanaca with 168. Newcomer Kenneth Malpartida won a one-year term with 165 votes.

Former Town Council President Bill Daniels and council member Larry Smith did not seek reelection. Former council member Michael Hughes was unseated, getting only 147 votes. And former council member Charles Brink, the other incumbent, was recalled in April. Malpartida will serve out Brink’s term.
