COLLEGE ROUNDUP : UCI Women Take Hawaii to Limit Before Losing

UC Irvine extended 13th-ranked Hawaii to five games before losing in a Big West Conference women’s volleyball match Tuesday at Irvine.

Hawaii rallied for an 11-15, 15-8, 14-16, 15-10, 15-5 victory. It was the first time in 16 meetings that Irvine had reached the fifth game against Hawaii (4-3, 3-0). Brandi Brooks had 23 kills for Hawaii and Scotleen Risely had 15 kills for Irvine (5-5, 0-3).

In nonconference women’s soccer:

Chapman 6, Biola 0--Stasi Dimassis and Carey Wright scored two goals each and Cindy LeClair and Niki LaPorte had one each for the Panthers (3-3), who led at the half, 3-0.

In nonconference men’s soccer:

Chapman 2, Biola 1 (OT)--Dustin Kemmerer scored in overtime for visiting Chapman (3-1). Kirk Feireisen scored in the first half for Chapman.

The Master’s 4, Christ College Irvine 0--Goalie John Cooke, a freshman making his first start, had 11 saves for visiting CCI (2-6).
