COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Soto Scores Twice to Spark Titans to Soccer Victory Over Anteaters

Eddie Soto scored two goals and goalkeeper Mike Ammann had his first shutout of the season in Cal State Fullerton’s 4-0 victory over UC Irvine in a nonconference soccer match Wednesday at Fullerton.
Soto, a transfer from Chapman, has a team-high eight goals for the Titans (5-2). Ammann had two saves. Fullerton limited the Anteaters (3-2) to four shots on goal.
In nonconference women’s soccer:
UC Irvine 0, San Diego State 0--The shutout was the third in a row for Irvine (4-3-2).
In Mountain Pacific Sports Federation water polo:
UC Irvine 14, Cal State Long Beach 6--Pablo Yrizar and Mark Stevenson each scored four goals for UC Irvine at Heritage Park. Yrizar and Stevenson each scored three goals in the first half as the Anteaters (2-4), ranked fifth in the nation, built a 6-3 halftime lead. Six players scored for Long Beach (0-6), which is ranked eighth in the nation.
In Big West Conference women’s volleyball:
Hawaii 3, UC Irvine 0--Nani Flores had 14 kills and Kenyatta Lovelace added 12 kills and eight digs for visiting Hawaii (5-3, 4-0), which won, 15-13, 15-3, 15-11. Popi Edwards had 10 kills and Kris Puttler had six for the Anteaters (5-6, 0-4). Scotleen Risley had 15 digs for Irvine.
