Logging Rules
With the help of the timber industry, George Bush has discovered that the way to reduce forest fires is to cut down more trees (“Bush Eases Rules for ‘Salvage’ Logging,” Sept. 10). What a magical concept! And it can be applied to other problems, too:
-- Burn all books, to mitigate illiteracy.
-- Close the hospitals, to cut medical costs.
-- Abolish the antitrust laws, to end nagging by spoilsports who wonder if this Administration ever saw a monopoly it didn’t like.
Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.
