Swiss Take a 2-0 Lead Over Brazil

Switzerland moved within one victory of its first Davis Cup final as Jakob Hlasek and Marc Rosset scored singles victories over Brazil in the semifinals on Friday.

Hard-serving Rosset, last summer's Olympic singles champion, defeated Jaime Oncins, 6-3, 7-5, 7-5, to open the best-of-five indoor series in which both teams are shooting for their first Davis Cup final.

Hlasek rebounded after lapsing in a third-set tiebreaker and beat Luiz Mattar, 6-2, 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 6-3.

Switzerland could clinch its finals spot in today's doubles, where Hlasek and Rosset are favored against Cassio Motta and Fernando Roese.
