Merit Succeeds Schultz as Head of Varco’s Shaffer Drill Unit

Mark A. Merit has been appointed president of Varco International Inc.’s Shaffer division. He succeeds Gus Schultz, who resigned to accept a partnership position with a local firm. Merit joined the Orange-based manufacturer of oil and gas drilling products in 1980 as a programmer analyst. He was most recently vice president of manufacturing for drilling systems as well as division controller.
