CYPRESS : Early Registration to Cost Students More

Share

Cypress College students who sign up for spring classes in November under the campus’ early registration system will be required to pay a new $10 per unit fee recently approved by state legislators.

But the students, unlike those at California State University campuses, will not be charged the higher rate retroactively for the current semester, according to college officials.

The $10-per-unit fee was established for all California community colleges following the recent approval of the state’s 1992-93 budget. It is an increase of $4 per unit over the previous school year.

Sandy McLeod, director of admissions and records, said there are still seats available for many of the short-term classes that begin the second week of October and run for six to eight weeks.

Continuing students can register for short-term classes at the admissions and records office. All short-term classes fall under the current charge of $6 per unit.
