Family values are more than words to me. Families provide the moral guidance and personal integrity our country needs and government should support.

There has never been a time in our country’s history when the rejuvenation of strong family values has been needed so much. No matter how strong our government is, no matter our military might, if we are without the fundamental base of family values, it will only be a matter of time before our country will collapse.

When President Bush speaks of family values, he’s talking about the need to bring personal responsibility back into our lives. We have to learn to rely on ourselves and our families to teach us the difference between right and wrong and the value of hard work and achievement.

Our President recognizes the fact that strong families reduce the need of government in their lives. That’s why the President has offered programs to reform our welfare system and create urban enterprise zones. There is a strong connection between financial independence and social development.

I see the reelection of President Bush as the only way we can reduce the need for government programs. Only by preventing unwanted pregnancies, moving people off welfare and giving gang members a chance to work can we give families a chance of succeeding.
