NEW CENTER: A new $3-million center for children of low-income families officially opens its doors in Costa Mesa this weekend. “This is a dream realized,” says Judith Goffin, a spokeswoman for the Assistance League of Newport-Mesa, which operates the center. . . . The center, at 2220 Fairview Road, will be open to the public from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. today. The 19,500-square-foot building includes space for offices, a dental clinic, a puppet program, a clothing-giveaway program and a thrift shop.
