KOREATOWN : Pacific Bell Gives $15,000 to Center
Pacific Bell Directory recently donated $15,000 to the Korean Health Education, Information & Referral Center to support its programs and planned adult health care center.
“After this spring’s civil disturbances, we wanted to contribute to efforts to help the Korean community, and KHEIR is a very active organization,” said Aaron Kang, a marketing manager with Pacific Bell Directory.
The center offers a variety of health screening and education programs to the Korean community, including a flu clinic, blood pressure, blood sugar, hepatitis B, dental and cancer screenings, and a mental health program, said Kathy Paik, the center’s office manager.
The center also offers information on social service programs, including Supplemental Security Income, Medi-Cal and Medicare, Aid to Families with Dependent Children, and the Women, Infants and Children program.
The center was established in 1986.
