Marty Desbrow of Ventura edged closer to his third consecutive Mini Stock championship at Ventura Raceway on Saturday night.

Desbrow came from the back of the 18-car field after leaving the track on a Lap 5 yellow flag. He overtook Santa Barbara’s Bruce Dunson on Lap 17 and took the checkered flag in the 20-lap feature race.

Desbrow’s nearest challenger in the points championship is Jeff Drake of Fillmore. Drake did not make it to the main event after incurring damage to his car in a heat race, leaving him with 1,015 points.
