Three timeouts and a short hop on the snap didn’t keep Joe Nedney from kicking a wind-aided 60-yard field goal as time ran out to give San Jose State a 26-24 victory over Wyoming Saturday at Laramie, Wyo.

The kick was a Big West Conference record.

“I don’t think I can feel any better than this,” Nedney said. “They tried to get me to think too much. The wind was in my direction. I had everything going for me. The altitude (7,220 feet) was a big factor.”

Wyoming’s third-string quarterback, redshirt freshman Scott Jones, gave Wyoming a 24-23 lead with an 80-yard drive capped by a 15-yard touchdown pass to tight end Matt Swenson.

Jones entered the game with barely three minutes left after starter Joe Hughes bruised his right thigh and after backup John Gustin failed to move the Cowboys (2-3). San Jose State is 3-2.

Nevada Las Vegas 21, Pacific 17--Jason Davis intercepted a fourth-down pass by Pacific’s Dave Henigan in the Rebels’ end zone with 36 seconds left to preserve the Big West victory at Stockton.

Pacific (1-4, 0-2) had apparently lost its last chance with 1:48 to play when Marvin Robinson made an interception in the end zone. But Pacific got a second chance when Jabbar Thomas lost a fumble at the UNLV nine. Davis’ interception came three plays later.

UNLV is 3-1, 1-0.
